EQII Again

I've been playing EQ2 because I needed something to do until Calatacsym comes out (I just cannot SAY that word.... Cala... Clat... Calaca.... Hell I dunno if I even spelled it right, what a clumsy word!).

I'm really not sure why EQ2 isn't more popular. It's really a pretty fine game. Good mechanics, fun to play characters, not too ugly (it's no Aion, but acceptable).

The raids are fun. There is plenty of solo content as well as group content. You can easily mentor down all by yourself and go back to do quests you missed for extra Acheivement points and experience.

Really, the game covers all worlds. Raiders, soloers, casual players, over acheivers.

I think one of the problems is that there has never been much in the way of advertising and promotion. They have a rare "free weekend" and an even rarer "double xp weekend". I never get email from Sony about EQ2. They have managed to package all of the expansions into one dvd and it's reasonably priced, so that's good. And they do have a Refer a friend program, but I believe most people use it for second (third, fourth, ect) accounts.

They also have 2 servers that allow you to legally buy and sell for real cash, items, characters, and platinum. You cannot transfer off those servers. So you can't taint the rest of the world with your cheaterness. Yes, I am a cheater (proud stance).

The Wizard is my favorite character. Pretty much in any game I will play a wizard and a pet class.

You can level pretty fast in EQ2 if you know how (true for any game I think) and there is still plenty to do and see. It's kind of week on the whole festival and special event thing but coming from Wow you get spoiled by that.

They have started an Extended server for EQ2 where you play for free, with limitations. Personally the limitations make it not fun for me so I'm willing to pay my 15 a month. You can pay for the Extended server too and remove the limitations but meh. $35 to copy your character over to the Extended server. I might make a character there just to see how the community is. But honestly, with a decent guild, you can find plenty of people to play with on EQ2, especially on the more populated servers (like Antonia Bayle).

I might bounce around, but I think EQ2 is a keeper. It has pets, illusions, pretty clothes, interesting characters, a great variety of pet classes, an awesome wizard, and player housing. All the junk I like.

One Year Later

I played Wow most of the year. And managed not to putter on other games, except I tried Aion when it came out.

And lately, I'm back to Aion. If only you could combine Aion and Wow into one game. Love Aion graphics. Love Wow gameplay. Love being able to fly in Aion. Love the pets and mounts in Wow. Love the beauty of the characters and landscaping (I guess that falls under graphics too) in Aion, Hate the cartoony characters in Wow. /sigh

Hate paying for multiple accounts!

I don't got game....

... Well it's been a year since I made my post about being a Live Gamer Junkie.

At least that habit has been broken. Warhammer didn't last long for me. And I can't seem to stay focused in EQII. I'm beginning to think that maybe buying characters and plat ruined me. I just don't enjoy leveling now. I want to be max level right now no matter what I'm playing. That's just so WRONG. Max level and plenty of AA no less.

I puttered with the LOTR free trial and revisted my old characters. (yawn). I dabbled some more in Warhammer but Meh.... I got a couple of levels on my Hunter in WOW... Eh. I'd probably play that right now over anything else simply because I can log on, play by myself a few hours and log off anytime. I'd love to have a posse to play with again, but I just don't play anything enough to keep up and keep new friendships going. And my old posses are split up all over the place.

I kind of miss the days when all the on line gamers were in EQ cause it was the only thing really worth playing. LOLz (yeah I hate it when people lolz too).

Warhammer Time

Well, I've kind of given up on gaming. After bouncing from game to game rather aimlessly. Shamelessly buying several (and selling) on Live Gamer, I've landed in Warhammer.

It's alot like Wow. Gameplay wise, it's Wow with better graphics. Or should I say, less Cartoony graphics. If you like Wow, you'd like it, except if you've already leveled a toon up in Wow, there's not much point in leaving the game. It's a guarantee that Blizzard will take better care of Wow than Mystic will of Warhammer.

I still dabble on Star Wars once in a great while, but honestly it's been weeks since I've played even Warhammer.

Oh God. Did I grow up?

Ricky WTF

Ricky Martin is proud father of twin sons by a gestational surrogate mother.

Ricky, WTF!!!! I would have TOTALLY had your kids!

Even though that's the ugliest hairdoo I've seen on a guy since Martin Short....

I still love you, Ricky. I'm just deeply deeply hurt. (long sigh) But I'll raise them like my own...

Buying Plat and Characters in a MMORPG

Does this create an unfair advantage for some players over others in a game?

Advantage? Um, Yeah.. However.. the key word here is "unfair".

Thinking it is "unfair" that someone can buy a level 80 character or the right to loot their mythical epic, or more plat than God is very popular. But think about it. Is it unfair that Joe down the road is driving a brand new Jaguar, and I'm not?

If one has the money to spend, is it unfair that they can buy plastic surgery to look younger, thinner, and yeah, better?

Is it unfair that some kids go to school in Kmart sneakers, and some wear Nikes?

It all boils down to one thing. If you have the money, you can have the advantages in life. Why should gaming be any different?

I wouldn't have a problem with EVERY game offering plat and character leveling services. The people who don't fly that way don't have to take advantage of it. Perhaps they can earn special titles such as "Queen of the Hard Way" or "Hard Core Gamer" or "Not a Pansy Exchange Buyer". Whatever makes them happy.

Me? I'll be bidding on line with my paypal to get some plats for that new mount or to pay off that mythical epic ---

But that's a whole other story, isn't it....

I Am A Live Gamer Junkie....

I admit it. I am embarrassed. It was bad enough when it was Station Exchange. I would buy and sell characters, and actually make some money off of them.
I'm easily bored and ADD so it was easy for me to fall into the buying characters and puttering around with them market of Station Exchange.
Then life got real busy and I went away a while. I dabbled here and there with games. I puttered. Oh I puttered. I couldn't settle back into EQ. Vanguard was hard, LOTR was... Hell, I don't even know what the problem was there. Conan disappointed me, Wow bored me, so I went back to EQII just before the Station Exchange puked and Live Gamer took over. Live Gamer sucks. The website sucks, the delays suck, the errors suck, the search functions suck. Between it and the economy the EQII market is dead.
So now I buy low.. and basically, can't even sell the damn characters. My accounts are full and I must stop. But OMG, there's an 80 Wizard Fae with epic and blah blah for only 70 bucks! (bid bid bid). MUST STOP.
I will forever stop making fun of Home Shopping Network junkies.
I am a Live Gamer junkie (hangs head). I just MAY be their sole source of income....
